Louisiana Economic Development is launching a new online platform to help the state’s small, minority-owned and disadvantaged businesses get a piece of major business projects.
Modeled after the highly successful Louisiana Job Connection job site, which has created 2.7 million matches between job seekers and employers in the state since launching in 2014, Louisiana Business Connection will match prime contractors with small businesses and minority-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to promote growth and inclusiveness. The site will pair engineering, procurement and construction companies — EPCs — working on large projects with smaller businesses whose services and supplies would be of use.
Once Louisiana Business Connection launches, small businesses will be able to add information about their company for matching with contractor project requirements, such as insurance and bonding levels, training, certifications and product and service offerings. The more information included in a business’ profile, the more useful the information will be to potential partners.
Small businesses can get referrals for additional training or other appropriate resources while creating a company profile.
Louisiana Business Connection is expected to launch in Spring 2017. You can register your small business now on Louisiana Job Connection, and be the first to know when the new site launches. In the meantime, here are some additional resources to get your business ready to list and be matched.
- Small Business Administration, for business certifications
- Louisiana Department of Insurance
- Louisiana Economic Development, for bonding assistance
- U.S. Labor Department, for certifications and safety ratings
- Transportation Security Administration’s Transportation Worker Identification Credential
