MEPOL Helps Louisiana Manufacturers Adapt, Compete and Thrive

If you are an established, small- to medium-sized manufacturer looking to take your business to the next level, MEPOL can help. The Manufacturing Extension Partnership of Louisiana (MEPOL) is a sponsored program of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) serving Louisiana manufacturers statewide. The organization has a variety of experts in house, as well as a statewide network of manufacturing extension agents and partners that provide a full range of services focusing on productivity, profitability and manufacturing success. The four primary service areas MEPOL offers include certification and continued improvement, sustainability and strategic solutions, workforce development, and growth and innovation.

MEPOL Marketing and Project Coordinator Kayla Gentry offered a number of examples of how the organization assisted numerous clients during 2018. “Cyber security is a growing concern for many companies and we provided an assessment to a client identifying risks while also sharing information on how to prevent from being targeted, and developing a protocol to respond to any attacks,” she says. In addition, The Department of Defense issued its contract guidelines for cyber security at the end of 2017 and MEPOL is available to work with manufacturing clients to ensure companies meet the parameters.

Marketing communications is another area in which MEPOL can assist. The organization recently worked with another client helping to update their entire brand including a new logo, tagline and package redesign. Gentry said that not only is the client pleased, but the new look has also resulted in more sales and better brand awareness.

ISO Quality Management development is a common service MEPOL has helped multiple clients with during the last year. Customers seeking to update to the 2015 ISO requirements are assigned a specific consultant that helps throughout the entire process. The consultant reviews information and develops quality management system documentation, and works closely for on-site reviews and in preparation for the final ISO audit.
